1 Cor 10 31

1st Corinthians 10:31

KJV 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

NKJ 1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1st Corinthians 10:31 is probably the most used proof text for Question # 1 of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, “What is the chief end of man?”

Our chief end, the main reason God created us, is to glorify Him. This is the chief end of all creation as the Heavens also glorify God- Psalm 19:1. Yet, we are especially called to this duty as we were created in, and now redeemed to God’s image in knowledge, righteousness and holiness- Colossians 3:10 & Ephesians 4:24.

When we gather to worship, or set aside time daily for devotional time, time for God. These of course are for His glory! But eating, drinking, whatever we do in this great verse of Scripture tell us God’s glory is something we should have in our minds always, constantly. We should pray without ceasing because we should also praise without ceasing.

“The glory of God is a silver thread which must run through all our actions.”
