The Nature of Mankind
God made man out of the dust of the earth, breathing the breath of life into him, making him a living being (Genesis 2:7). God made woman out of the rib of man as a helper suitable to him (Genesis 2:18-33). Man was created in the image of God, and given dominion over all the earth (Genesis 1:26-30). He was created for the purpose of glorifying God (Revelation 4:11). Although God made man upright, man fell from his original state by sinning against God (Genesis 3:6). Man’s fall brought him into a state of sin and misery which he cannot escape except by the powerful grace of God (Romans 3:10-11; Ephesians 2:8-9).
